Prestone products have been protecting vehicle cooling systems for over 90 years. Established in the US in 1927, Prestone has become a world leader in the protection of cars in extreme conditions. The state of the art facility in Danbury, Connecticut, continues to ensure that Prestone remains at the cutting edge of automotive technology. A mission to provide the finest automotive fluids in the world has been firm for Prestone over their 90 years of production, keeping their technologies ahead of the rest with their industry leading innovations.
The first non-flammable Ethylene Glycol was produced by Prestone in 1927, which meant keeping engines from freezing for winter driving. Followed a few years later, in 1930, with the production of the first inhibitor powerful enough to protect the cooling system from rust formation- a leading edge to their product range. Now 90 years later, their antifreeze/coolant with patented Cor-Guard inhibitors is formulated to prevent corrosion to help cooling systems run more efficiently and extend engine life. The US Military recognized the quality of Prestone antifreeze/coolant throughout World War II, and decided it was essential to keep its vehicles running at their best in some of the most extreme conditions.
Prestone’s success comes from developing new products; creating innovative solutions to motoring problems; continuous improvements on existing products; and establishing long relationships with Original Equipment vehicle manufacturers. In 1962, the “Big Three” automakers tuned into Prestone, and installed ethylene glycol antifreeze solution in all new cars, making it a standard year-round performance fluid. Today, Prestone’s coolant/antifreeze is used by Original Equipment Manufacturers globally.
Whilst the business has grown over the decades and their technologies have advanced, Prestone’s mission to protect drivers and their vehicles with cutting edge products remains at the core of their range.
