FRAM is a global filtration brand that is available in 174 countries, and is the number one selling brand in North America, which is currently the largest automotive aftermarket in the world. Having 87 years of experience, research and development, makes FRAM a market leader in filter technology. Fram has long been the brand of choice for the discerning New Zealand driver, and in recent years, Filpro Automotive have re-introduced the world class filter brand into the Australian market; providing market leading coverage in both New Zealand and Australia.
Established in 1932, in a laboratory in Providence, Rhode Island, chemists Frederick Franklin and T. Edward Aldham, invented an easily replaceable oil filtering element. From this, hand assembly of oil filters began and the first FRAM oil filter, the F1, was introduced. By 1934, production was, on average, at 10 filters per working day. The FRAM name is coined from the first two letters of Franklin and the last two letters of Aldham.
Today, FRAM designs, develops, tests and manufactures filters to meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacturer’s filtration specifications, and is supplied to nine of the top 10 Original Equipment vehicle brands in oil, air, fuel and cabin filtration. FRAM products are designed, engineered and manufactured in-house, with multimillion-dollar test rigs giving them the capabilities to test OEM-ISO/SAE/JIC specifications.
For FRAM, it’s the consistent research, testing and development that helps to keep them up to date and relevant in the advancing technologies within the industry.
